Why do people hate product placement in Movies and TV Shows ?

Why do people hate product placement in Movies and TV Shows ?, it dose not bother me, I think it makes the movie or tv show seem like it's set in the real world. but people really hate product placement , Movie producers hate doing it, people hate seeing it, the BBC has Evan banned it, and some movie are failures because of it. WHY ?
