What do you think about the bryan stow beating?

After seeing a new video of him on TMZ prior to his beating, I just wanted to know what you think and how things like this can be avoided. I am guessing stow had been drinking and his attackers as well. People do and say things that are dumb when they drink. Should we just ban the sale of alchohol at all sports venues?
