Are modded controllers detectable?

Purchased or homemade, a modded controller that gives you an unfair advantage in games is not allowed on Xbox Live. Microsoft does not make modded controllers so any sold in stores are made by third party manufacturers. They are usually detectable by other players who will report you. Some have been patched to not work.
