I need to tax my car however I have not yet recieved my insurance docs.?

I need to tax my car at the post office, I have a valid MOT certificate and I have insured my car. However I have not yet received my insurance docs. Is it possible for the post office to electronically check my insurance without the docs or cover note? Thanks.
