I want to electronically archive a bunch of documents. What is the best software for keyword based retrieval?

Ideally, I'd like to be able to retrieve based on in-text occurrences of names and dates. I'd like to be able to use or build a web-page-like interface, so that data can be found with minimal computer skills.
